About Carston
Adam in 1964 at Carston in NYC.
Carston Stereo Video is a family business: always has been and always will be.
We are possibly the oldest electronics retailer in the country. Since 1948, when Carl Kooper started the company as Carston Studios in New York City, we have provided value and service to multiple generations of our customers. We’ve been located in the Danbury-Brookfield, Connecticut area since the mid-1960s, when Carl moved the business here because he and his wife Celestina wanted to raise their two children in the area. One of those kids, Adam, started working at Carston after school and on weekends when he was 12. He never stopped, and now he runs the place.
In a world of big, impersonal "box" stores that treat their customers like commodities or numbers, we attribute our more than 60 years of continued success to our “stick to the knitting” philosophy: do one thing as good or better than anyone else while you provide each customer the best help and assistance available in the market.
We sell and install home stereo as well as video/theater equipment. We’ve been doing that since the custom home installation market was created. We‘ll work with you to design the best system for your needs, and we stand behind everything we sell. Should you need something fixed, we will repair any equipment you own, even if you didn’t buy it from us. And please remember, our demonstration facilities are second to none, and have been for some time. If you don’t believe it, please come in, and tell us how we can do better. We want to know.

So, while we sell great home high fidelity and video equipment, you get something else when you work with us. You get all that experience and you get a relationship after the sale. Our bottom line is that we love what we do, and want you to be happy and satisfied today, tomorrow and years from now.
Buying electronics can be complicated and mistakes can be expensive. If you don’t know who to ask, ask us. That’s what we do. Remember, we work for you.
So, how can we help you?
